SoundCloud has unveiled new insights about its users, highlighting the high engagement of electronic music fans. This information was shared at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) by SoundCloud representatives and Dutch producer Mau P.
A Billboard report reveals that electronic music enthusiasts lead in user interaction on the platform. These fans are significantly more engaged—52% more likely to comment, 104% more likely to share tracks, and 85% more likely to repost content compared to fans of other genres.
Projections for 2024 show a 21% increase in electronic music uploads, with a 6% rise in plays since 2022. Electronic genres are expected to make up 22% of all SoundCloud plays this year.
Among electronic subgenres, house music tops the charts with the highest number of plays, longest listening times, and largest audience. Hardcore secures second place for both plays and listening duration, while trance ranks second in audience size and third in plays and listening time.
The most striking revelation is the rapid rise of trance music. SoundCloud reports a remarkable 24% increase in listening time for trance tracks and an 11% growth in listener base since 2023, making it the platform’s fastest-growing electronic subgenre.
