Set against the dazzling blue of the Mediterranean, where sun meets sea and rugged coastal landscapes extend for miles, Sunny Side Festival 2025 once again provided a great sensory escape for 2500 attendees. Nestled along the Maltese coast, world-class artists and state-of-the-art production ensure that, almost from sunrise to sunset, grooves flowed.

Ryan Elliott delivered a masterful set at Tropicana to get things underway at the iconic UNO Malta on Friday night. He’s a serious selector who showed his skills with deep and atmospheric grooves, soon locking in the crowd. The state-of-the-art sound systems and stylish production provided an immersive edge to the whole thing. We also managed to catch Harry McCanna back-to-back Sam Bangura, followed by Sonja Moonear closing the Treehaus stage with her now trademark minimal sound.
Saturday started for us by the sea, where PARAMIDA back-to-back Enrica Falqui closed the Sunset Seaside Party with a set full of big energy and rousing synths, which sent shivers, particularly as the sun dipped below the horizon. The evening shifted to UNO Malta for Margaret Dygas, followed by a driving, delicious B2B set from Lamache and Bruno Schmidt before Jonny Rock and Magda dipped into Detroit, minimal and twisted dark disco.
The first of the boat parties was a Trommel-hosted event featuring the cultured pair of Hamish & Toby and their sophisticated blend of house, breaks, and tech, while the Rhythm Point boat party was about Doudou MD’s eclectic goodness as we tripped around the Maltese islands. There was still time and energy for more from Alexia Glensy and Alex Dima’s B2B set at Tropicana, slabs of big, sweaty, juicy house heat from Dungeon Meat on the Treehaus stage, and a teary-eyed finale from Carista, leaving us with unforgettable memories.
Sunny Side Festival is a great vibe with around only 2500 heads from around Europe. Add in Malta’s sun-kissed scenery, a great location, and smart production, and you have a must-visit early summer gathering for those who like their sounds underground. So, whether you’re dancing at sea, under the stars or a blazing sun, you’re always part of something special at Sunny Side Festival.
