Magdalena selects 10 of her favorite summer tunes

Magdalena’s eyes were opened to the world of electronic music when she was just 15 years old. Over the next decade, Hamburg’s music scene was flourishing, with the city becoming increasingly known for its melodic take on house and techno. It was in this atmosphere that Diynamic Music was founded by Solomun and Adriano Trolio, with Magdalena working with the duo from the very beginning.

Within the following year, Magdalena’s unselfish, crowd-first DJing mentality saw her demand rise after each DJ gig. Having begun by playing high profile clubs for Diynamic and her good friend Anja Schneider’s Mobilee parties – “she pushed me into this whole DJ thing!” – Magdalena started to play at some of the most recognized underground institutions around the globe.

Magdalena finally released her first EP on Diynamic, ‘Elementum’, in the spring of 2018. Lead track ‘Mountains of Es Cubells’ would go on to define Magdalena’s landmark Ibiza season; after having played on the island and hosted her own show on Ibiza Sonica, she was able to launch her very own branded weekly residency at Blue Marlin Ibiza. SHADOWS was a runaway success. Starting in the early evening and running until midnight, the concept was inspired by the changing lights and moods through the evening and Ibiza’s outdoor music culture. Each night Magdalena would invite just one guest – her ‘Shadow’ so to speak. The high profile bookings ranged from the likes of Solomun, Anja Schneider, Eagles & Butterflies and La Fleur to Oliver Huntemann, Rodriguez Jr. and many many more, earning the parties a solid musical reputation.

Magdalena will showcase Shadows as part of the Sound-Fleet ADE boat party series w/ Michael Mayer, Ghiestl, Tom Zeta + more on October 17th — tickets & info here.

1. Hot Since 82 – Therapy feat. Alex Mills (Magdalena Remix)

“It was great to see the dancefloor at Shadows enjoying my track so much later this summer, the vibe was great and it fitted perfectly for the feel of the party”

2. Miss Kittin, ANNA – Forever Ravers (Original Mix)

“These two make for a powerful team that combined their electro and techno backgrounds creating a devastating effect on this grizzled main room anthem which never fails to send people wild”

3. Guy J, Clarian – Night Rescue (Original Mix)

“The slowly building melancholic moods of this track was huge at parties like Afterlife, where somber synths and dark/deep techno rule”

4. Âme – No War (Rampa Remix)

“With the heat of Ibiza, a slow deep house release like this one is always going to have a space on open-air dance floors”

5. Rafael Cerato, Liu Bei – Further (Hidden Empire Remix)

“There is a tension on this track that never resolves – the moody vocals, the taught bass, the withering keys – and together they add up to just the sort of track that makes an emotional impact in a big club”

6. Monolink – Return to Oz (ARTBAT Remix)

“Artbat were one fo the breakout acts of the summer, and with epic melodies like this, it’s easy to see why “

7. Damian Lazarus – Moment (Adam Port Remix)

“There is a real spiritualism on this tune which embodies the free ideals and hedonistic atmosphere of many Ibiza parties, hence its success”

8. Super Flu – Acumulate (Original Mix)

“Dark, broody, with pitch-shifted vocals – this is a supersizes house tune to make a real mark in vast clubs like those in the Balearics”

9. Eli & Fur – Into The Night (Extended Mix)

“This enchanting tune layers up rich and rubbery drums with dreamy vocals that are pure escapism on the dance floor, as is the perfect way on the White Isle”

10. Adana Twins – C3PO (Original Mix)

“Camelphat dropped this at Hi Ibiza a week or so ago and helped make it one of the standout tunes of the season with its epic leads and rising energy”
