Ultra Music Festival 2026 is set to become the first major electronic music festival in the US to power a large-scale stage with zero-emission batteries on site. The milestone arrives through the festival’s Mission: Home sustainability program at the RESISTANCE Cove Stage.

Set for Friday, March 27th through Sunday, March 29th at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami, Ultra 2026 will use Showpower’s SmartGrid battery system at the RESISTANCE Cove Stage. The system will be charged through existing grid infrastructure, allowing the stage to operate without onsite greenhouse gas emissions.

The initiative is being delivered through a collaboration between Mission: Home, REVERB’s Music Decarbonization Project, Showpower, and CES Power. While much of the festival industry still relies on diesel generators, Ultra says this system is designed to support large-scale audio, lighting, video, and stage production with full redundancy and reliability.

“Each year, we push ourselves to think bigger, and this next chapter reflects how collaboration, innovation, and culture are coming together to create lasting impact,” said Vivian Belzaguy Hunter, Sustainability Director at Ultra Music Festival.

The move follows earlier efforts made in 2025, when Ultra transitioned the UMF Radio and Oasis stages to grid power alongside the Live Stage. With the RESISTANCE Cove Stage now joining that shift, four of Ultra’s seven stages will operate without generators, making the majority of the festival’s stages onsite emission-free.

According to Ultra, Mission: Home will present 65 initiatives in 2026 after delivering 61 at the festival’s sold-out 25th anniversary edition. Since launching in 2019, the program says it has educated 8.2 million people, diverted nearly 400,000 pounds of waste from landfills, and donated more than 84,000 pounds of food, beverages, and supplies back to the local community.

“Ultra’s deployment is exactly the kind of forward-thinking action the industry needs,” said Adam Gardner, Co-Founder of REVERB. “By partnering with Showpower to bring battery-powered technology to a major electronic festival, Ultra is proving that climate solutions can enhance live music production. This is a blueprint for the future of festivals.”

Ultra also noted that new Mission: Home initiatives for 2026 will include a reusable souvenir cup pilot sponsored by Red Bull and the launch of the Mission: Home Cleanup Countdown in partnership with Clean Vibes.
