Berlin’s legendary venue Watergate has unveiled a new archival mix series, launching with a recording of the club’s final set before closing its doors in 2024. The inaugural release features founder and longtime resident Uli Wombacher—better known as Metro—who delivered the historic closing set.
The set includes classics like Lil Louis’ ‘French Kiss,’ Heaven & Earth’s ‘Prescription Every Night,’ and Bryan Ferry’s ‘Don’t Stop the Dance.’ Reflecting on the experience, Metro shared, “What do you play for the last dance? What’s the final track? When do you turn off the music? Ultimately, it was precisely what DJing has always meant to me: a set shaped by the moment, the crowd, the feeling.”
The launch of the series follows Watergate’s announcement of its summer open-air parties at Sage Beach, featuring artists such as Bedouin, Chris Luno, Andhim, and JAMIIE.
