EG.992 Danny Howells

“I really enjoyed putting this mix together. There’s no grand theme or anything, just tunes that I love, both new and not-so-new.I love taking twists and turns and being able to play around with tracks that might not easily fit into a regular club set, so I hope you enjoy this. Thanks to the amazing Electronic Groove for having me again and for the continued support, and congratulations on the forthcoming 1000th episode!” – Danny Howells

Danny Howells has been a fixture in the house music scene since the late ’90s, earning a reputation as a “DJs’ DJ” for his unique style and steadfast commitment to authenticity. Unlike the fleeting flavor-of-the-month DJs chasing trends like moths to a strobe light, Danny’s carved out his own sonic niche. No pre-fab, radio-friendly fluff here. This guy waits for inspiration to strike with the fury of a desert thunderstorm, and the music reflects it. It’s real. Raw. Stuff that burrows into your soul and compels you to move, not because some marketing exec whispered sweet nothings in your ear, but because it’s damn good.

In a recent chat with EG, Danny opened up about his approach to music. “I’ve never cared much about trends,” he admitted. “For me, it’s always been about finding and playing music that truly moves me.”

His latest episode, EG.992, is a perfect example. It’s a collision of old favorites and fresh discoveries, like Franck Roger ft. Shawn Chappelle – ‘Enchanted (Fred Everything Dub Remix)’ and Axel Boman’s dreamy ‘Moon Dancer.’ Each track in the mix reflects Danny’s impeccable taste and his knack for building a narrative through a sublime and sometimes relentless music selection.

Aside from DJing, Danny proves he’s not only good at selecting tracks but at making them. He’s dropped some killer outings like the latest Manjumasi remix for ‘Nostalgia Del Presente’ and ‘Shortwave’ on Selador Records, run by his mate Dave Seaman. And let’s not forget his collaborations with Dave and Darren Emerson as the mighty 3D.

Beyond music, Danny is also deeply involved in animal rights activism. “I take time off to devote to causes more worthy than myself,” he explains. His efforts range from online fundraising to street activism, driven by a belief in giving voice to voiceless animals. “It keeps me busy and active, especially as my DJ schedule’s slowing down,” he shared. We have to respect a guy who uses his platform for something more than just dropping #blessed selfies from Ibiza.

So, there you have it. Danny Howells: a survivor in a world of fleeting trends, a creator of genuine music, and a champion for those who need it most. All are delivered with a healthy dose of realness, a quality that seems increasingly rare these days. Whether he’s creating memories or saving animals, Danny’s making a real impact – one beat at a time.
