David Mayer is back on SONARA with his latest release, ‘Essence’, a house cut shaped by reflection and a renewed focus on core ideas.

A producer and DJ with a background spanning Germany, Spain, Norway, and Berlin, where he settled in 2004, Mayer has built a catalog across labels such as Ouïe, Objektivity, Audiomatique, Keinemusik, and Connected Frontline. His work blends techno and house through groove-led structures and evolving melodic layers.

With ‘Essence’, Mayer revisits a more stripped-back approach. The track centers on rhythmic foundations and synth-driven textures, aligning closely with his earlier output while refining his current sound. The result is a focused production that reflects his artistic direction.

SONARA, co-founded by Tooker, Jay Kurahashi-Sofue, David Mayer, and Nico Stojan, continues to frame its identity around deep electronic, ambient, and Afro-influenced music.
