Ableton has unveiled the public beta of Live 12.2, bringing major improvements to its flagship music production software. This update features enhanced audio processing capabilities and streamlined workflows.

The refined bounce-to-track feature stands out, letting producers convert MIDI or audio content into new audio tracks with a single click—a significant improvement to the editing workflow.

The Auto Filter effect gets a major upgrade with new modulation options and filter shapes. Producers can explore fresh sonic territories using DJ, formant, and comb filters, all with better mixing controls and clear visual feedback.

For sound design, the update adds chord-locking to both Resonator and Spectral Resonator devices, with the latter now supporting MIDI note input. The Roar saturation module includes new delay features, while the Meld synthesizer offers chord generation from single MIDI notes and a creative Scrambler LFO effect.

Interface improvements include better keyboard-based modulation control and breakpoint editing, giving producers finer control over sound design. While these features are still in beta testing, they demonstrate Ableton’s dedication to advancing music production tools.

The Live 12.2 beta is available to all Live 12 users via Ableton’s Beta testing portal.
