He was 71 years old.
Alfredo Fiorito, better known as DJ Alfredo, passed away on December 24th, 2024. The Ibiza-based iconic artist was 71 years old.
“Dear Alfredo, thank you for the nights and the beats we shared together. Your music and vision defined the sound of Balearic Beat and the soul of Amnesia. Your legacy will always live on our dance floor. We will not forget you. Rest in peace”, was the heartfelt message from Amnesia Club, the venue where he had a six-year residency.
Born in Argentina, Alfredo Fiorito arrived in Ibiza in 1976 escaping his country’s military regime. “When we reached the island, we knew this was the place we had been searching for,” he mentioned years ago in an interview with Diario de Ibiza.
In his early days as a DJ at the Be Bop Bar, Alfredo was introduced to house music instantly making it a passion for him. During his career, he held successful residencies at Amnesia, Pacha, Privilege, and Space, where he emerged as the pioneer of Balearic Beat. He earned recognition as one of the island’s most cutting-edge DJs, drawing interest from thousands of electronic music enthusiasts worldwide, such as house pioneer Danny Rampling commented in this Electronic Groove interview.
In 1988, DJ Mag named him ‘DJ of the Year’.
In 2020 he suffered a Covid stroke and lost his financial support. In 2021, he initiated a fundraiser to seek assistance, raising over 25,000 euros, which provided temporary relief. However, his health remained fragile. In 2024, his son Jaime and The Secret DJ organized another campaign to secure his care and comfort. Under the title ‘Alfredo Needs You,’ it raised over 20,000 euros within days, a testament to the love and respect the community had for him.
