Jon Hopkins is gearing up to release his latest album, ‘Ritual’, this summer through the  Domino label. The LP’s announcement is accompanied by the release of the single ‘Ritual (evocation)’ and a music video featuring aerial rope performer Bryony Louise Fowler, directed by Dave Bullivant.

‘Ritual’ is a musical journey composed of eight distinct chapters. Originally, it was designed for Dreamachine, an immersive experience project based in London by Collective Act. It is inspired by ceremony themes, spiritual liberation, and the hero’s journey, and is planned to be out on August 30th, 2024.

‘Ritual’ represents a collaborative effort with long-term collaborators such as Vylana, 7RAYS, Ishq, Clark, Emma Smith, Daisy Vatalaro, and Cherif Hashizume. Written in the latter half of 2023, it complements Hopkins‘ previous full-length work, 2021’s ‘Music For Psychedelic Therapy.’

Discussing his creative process, Hopkins states, “I have no idea what I’m doing when I’m composing. I don’t know where it’s coming from or where it’s going, nor does it seem to matter. I just know when it’s finished.” He further shares that this piece appears to follow the structure of a ritual, acting as a key to reveal hidden aspects of the listener’s inner world.
