Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter has announced a new album titled ‘Mirage – Ballet for 16 Dancers’, set for release on June 5th, 2026, via Erato. The record serves as the score to a 60-minute ballet of the same name, which premiered last May at the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
Created in collaboration with choreographer Damien Jalet and contemporary artist Kōhei Nawa, the project draws inspiration from the “sculptural approach to sound and music” of Greek-French composer Iannis Xenakis. The album spans eight tracks and reflects Bangalter’s continued focus on composition.
This latest work follows a series of orchestral and dance-focused projects since Daft Punk’s split in 2021. In 2023, Bangalter released ‘Mythologies’, also conceived as a ballet score. That same year, he created music for the dance performance ‘Chiroptera Matiere Premiere’, later released as the ‘Chiroptera’ soundtrack album in 2024 and further documented in the CHIROPTERA film.
